Fare Meter - AUD, what are we all about. Essentially the long term plan is to make FareMeter - AUD a standard taxi fare tool which the industry supports within Australia. This is a long way off and what must first be established is a properly functioning beta release. The first beta release will provide minimal functionality but we have big plans for FareMeter. FareMeter will be your tool to ensure taxi meters are running correctly. Furthermore it will allow the user to take all taxi details and record them. An automatic reporting engine will also be incorporated into later releases.
Some of the functionality we hope to offer is:
- Track your taxi trip and ensure the trip total cost is accurate using the taxi companies fare rules (ensure the cab driver is legitimate).
- The application will display current speed to ensure he is driving the speed limit
- Ability to take the driver details - most likely implemented with a photo of the driver license
- Support multiple cab companies within Sydney and eventually the whole of Australia
- Create a reporting engine which sends a report to the taxi company (the trip details, cost per fare rules, actual cost and driver details)
- Map the route on Google maps and overlay the suggested Google directions from your start location, i.e. ability to determine if he is taking the long or short route
- Further functionality will be defined at a later date
The first release will be very basic with the layouts and core functionality only.
Remember once we have a stable reliable release feel free to donate and request features. As we are only releasing beta builds at this stage please provide feedback through the menu and/or post a comment on the feature request page. Please note; fare meter only works for Sydney, Australia at this stage
Thanks and regards
Garry
